Questions,
answered.
What is MCC?
A Minecraft: Java Edition client written from scratch in C++23. It speaks the Minecraft protocol natively, renders with Vulkan or Direct3D 12 and contains no Java. It's for multiplayer servers.
Is it really "the fastest"?
It's our slogan, and we back it only with numbers we measured: for example 370 fps on the High preset at 1080p with shadows and GI, or about 12,800 fps on the terrain view with graphics off, on an RTX 5080 Laptop GPU. We don't publish numbers for other clients that we haven't measured. See Performance.
Do I need to own Minecraft?
Yes. MCC reads textures, models and sounds from your own Minecraft 26.3 installation and signs you in with your Microsoft account. We never ship Mojang's files.
Which servers and versions work?
Minecraft 26.3 natively, on vanilla, Paper, Spigot, Purpur, Folia and networks behind Velocity or BungeeCord. Older servers are joined through version translation. Singleplayer isn't supported.
Will I get banned? Is it a cheat client?
No cheats, ever: no reach, x-ray, auto-clicker or anticheat evasion. Movement matches vanilla, and our client brand is honest, so servers know what they're talking to. Every server has its own rules; if one forbids third-party clients, respect that.
Does it collect data about me?
The client has zero telemetry: no analytics, crash upload or update check. Logs and crash reports stay on your PC. Microsoft sign-in talks to Microsoft directly. Optional online features (social, cosmetics, the player list) only run after you switch them on. Details in the privacy policy.
Can I use Fabric or Forge mods or shader packs?
No. Java mods and shader packs can't run in a native client. The common features are built in instead, and the graphics presets replace shader packs. Resource packs work, HD packs included.
Which systems are supported?
64-bit Linux (Vulkan, Wayland or X11) and Windows (Vulkan or Direct3D 12). Linux is our main development platform.
How do I get into the beta?
The beta is invite-only for now. See Download. We don't link any builds on this site yet.
Are cosmetics paid?
Every cosmetic is free for everyone during the beta. They're purely visual and never give an advantage.
Is it open source?
No, MCC is closed source. It contains no GPL code; third-party licences are listed in the client under Settings → Licenses.
Are you affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft?
No. MCC is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft.
What's the final name?
"MCC" is a working name; the final name may change before the public release.
